Do you notice much of a difference in terms of redtail vs barred in terms of which is more likely to hit the jerkbaits? I’ve caught many barred on the jerkbait but since moving further north where there are way more redtail, I can’t seem to get any on it. Not sure if it’s just bad luck though.

Have the 3000 Saltist and first season it started grinding. Got the BG as backup. After maintenance and oiling the Saltist still not as smooth and the bail sometimes doesn’t fully close. For the difference, I’d stick with the BG and thinking of going to Shimano Stradic when bothe fail.

That’s strange, but usually only 200Wt is enough for 3mph. If 1.2kWt is needed for 4mph, then it might be an improper selection of a propeller for that motor, or a motor itself. I’m not sure For instance, as I can see that propeller is weed-safe, and so is not as effective as could be.

Rather have a Saltiga. Im not fishing Montauk any more these days. Im too old for that Now. So i dont need 100% waterproof these days. I only buy JDM and Aussie stuff . The Saltiga have more than 2X the drag. 66 pounds on the expedition and dogfights

I know this video is 6 yr old. I want to report that I just bought the BG 4500 and the price was up to $150. Also, the 4500 has a nice thick SS bail with a well defined action, not mushy. Haven’t used it yet but maybe Daiwa addressed some issues in this video.

I just got one in a 6500 for sturgeon fishing. It's a beast

The Piscifun Viper X (current model) is a well-made reel. Light-weight, has a carbon fiber drag system, and holds up better than any reel I've used priced in the under-$50 range. Has the smoothest retrieve and most precise drag system compared to any reel sold on the shelves at big-box stores...absolutely much better than Penn/Abu Garcia/Pflueger models sold at big-box stores, some priced over $100. I put Viper X reels on my sons' fishing rods...they've beat them up, dunked in water may times, the reels still work like new.

Worthless. If the knot comes into play fighting a fish, you've already been beat. A double overhand knot or just taping the line on the spool work just as well.
